I owe this blog an apology.

Back in April I promised a logbook — measuring seams, clamp geometry, all the messy in-between steps. Then I went quiet for months. Not because there was nothing to say, but because there was too much to do and writing about it kept losing to actually doing it.

And ofc, it was summer. Estonian summer is short, so one has to do all “summer things” in a really short span of time.

So here’s the update, all at once: FalsMount v1 is ready.

It went from a rough idea and a pile of measurements to a real, working product. The clamp grips the seam, holds the dish, and doesn’t need a single hole drilled in the roof. All the things I wasn’t sure would work — they work.

I sincerely hope that I can find time to go back and fill in the gaps: the design decisions, the versions that didn’t make it, what changed along the way. That’s still the point of this blog. But I didn’t want the first real update after four months of silence to be another design post — I wanted it to be this one.

So, that was the first phase: summer was full of engineering work and figuring how to source components. This phase ended on sept 19, when I fully assembled the first kit and actually installed it on my own roof.

Next phase is now on: figuring out if I can engineer marketing as well…
